Pipeline Consulting Services

Pipelines are a significant component of the infrastructure of a civilized world.  They are used to bring water, gas, oil, etc. from their source to the consumer.  Large transmission pipelines bring these important necessities across vast distances while distribution pipelines deliver them to the end user.

Transmission lines are characterized by their larger diameter, straight runs with few tie-ins, install by passes to facilitate pigging inspection and, typically, higher pressure operating conditions.  Also, transmission pipelines are generally regulated at a national level within countries.  Most transmission lines are constructed of steel with specific coating strategies to mitigate external corrosion.  Concrete is also used for the transmission of water.

Distribution pipelines are characterized by their smaller diameter, complex non-linear pattern, and multiple tie-ins so as to make pigging unfeasible and, typically, lower pressure operating conditions.  Distribution pipelines are constructed of a vast array of materials including polyethylene, PVC, polyamide, ductile iron among others.
