2006-2007 Curriculum
Plastics Pipe 101
Designed for both entry level personnel in the plastics pipe industry and for experienced personnel who either need a refresher or an introduction to a broader range of topics. The two day session covers polymer basics, applicable codes, standards and agencies, test methodologies, performance characteristics and practical field applications.

Plastic Pipe Materials in Gas Piping Applications 201
Specifically designed to address the needs and concerns of gas utilities regarding applications, monitoring and improvements in the plastics piping field. The course covers in detail lifetime predictions, performance characterization, and developments being considered to improve reliability and address concerns of impending integrity management regulations.

Oxidative Resistance 105
An in-depth look at one of the areas that effects resins in most all applications and is often the deciding influence on lifetime performance. From oxidation caused by chlorine compounds (disinfectants) to UV degradation, the course looks at the environmental causes, the chemistry involved and the symptoms to the prevention and the prediction of the overall influence on lifetime. What is needed for listings and what can be done to assure that the integrity of a system can be safely predicted. Global differences in disinfectants and the subsequent effects are discussed and evaluated.
Introduction to Failure Analysis
One of the best tools for avoiding future failures is the analysis of past and present failures. This is true for both in-service failures of commercial products, and laboratory failures of experimental products. Failures leave behind clues that need to be preserved, identified, and analyzed. Failure analysis methods covered include general and polymer-specific techniques for documenting and analyzing failures in piping systems and components. Product developers and technical service providers in particular will benefit from this course.

From Resin to Market 104.
Incorporating many of the topics from Plastics Pipe 101 but with a strong emphasis on what is required to take a new resin from development to the market, including listings (PPI & NSF), federal codes, CSA requirements and discussion of who is normally responsible for taking the materials through the various steps. Insight into transfers, special cases and procedures to shorten the timeline.
